			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Narayanan Potti held the prestigious positions of Chief editor- "Malayali"; Editorial Board Member- "Desabandhu" and "Keralabhooshanam"; Assistant editor- "Viswavijnaanakosam" and "Sarvavijnaanakosam"; Lecturer- Arts College and University College; and Head master- Mannarssala High school. In 1952 and 1956, he was elected the R.S.P. member to Thiru- Kochi Assembly. Narayanan Potti was an ardent freedom fighter and had spent his days in prison for the purpose.</p>
<p>Chengarapplly Narayanan Potti was born at Karuvatta, near Haripad on December 25, 1916. He had his high school studies at Karuvatta N.S.S. High School, and intermediate studies at Changanacherry S.B. College. Parameswaran Potti did B.A. in Sanskrit and Malayalam at Trivandrum Arts College and L.L.B. at Ernakulam Law College. Narayanan Potti had a special affinity for classical arts, especially Kathakali.</p>
<p>He was a famous literary personality too. His major works include "Malayalasaahithyasarvaswam", "Upastharanam" (essays), "Karuna" (Aattakkatha), "Morarjikkathukal", "Urmmila", "Marxinte Mooladhanam", "Leninkrithikal" (translations), "Maanavacharithram", "Federal Raashtrathanthram", "Enpathudivasamkondu Lokamchutti Lokaathbhuthangal", "Chengarappalliyude Diarykkurippukal" and "Bhadrasanappalliyile Kolapaathakam".<br />
The literary world honoured Narayanan Potti in 1933 by awarding him the Kerala Sahithya Academy Award. Narayanan Potti passed away on May 17, 1933.</p>

He was a member of "kalavedi"- an amateur dramatic company in Trivandrum, which was famous during the 50's. Pandalam N.S.S College, Kalady Sree Sankara College, Malayalam lexicon, Delhi University and Union Public Service Commission are some among the major institution where he worked. When he retired from the service in 1985, he was working in the capacity of Joint director at U.P.S.C.</p>
<p>He has to his credit about thirty works related to various sections of literature like poetry, literary research, philosophy, essay and children's classic. His research materials based on the "Thullals" of Kunchan Nambiar has been approved at the University level. He is the author of "Modern Mukthangal"- a collection of about 1500 ‘slokas', all having a vein of humor. The first autobiography in verse in Malayalam is attributed to him-"Aathma Sangeetham".<br />
His balasahithya works got five honours including the Kerala Sahithya Academy Award. Besides "The Ramayana" and "Mahabharata" written for children, he published about 400 folktales. "Viswaprasidha Balakathakal" is editions which include the selected folktales of Evoor Parameshwaran.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>P. Vasudevan Thampi, renowned as P.V. Thampi, was born on April 28, 1937, at Haripad, as the son of Bhavani Thankachi and P. Krishnapillai. In a very short span of time he established his versatility as a novelist, short story writer, essayist and elocutionist. He began his career at the age of 19 at the New India Insurance.<br />
P.V. Thampi passed M.A. and L.L.B. while he was in the service. He gave up his job in March 1988 as the job proved to be an obstacle to his literary creativities. His first novel "Homam" got the ‘Kumkumam Award' in 1979. His essay in English ‘The Reorganization of Soviet Union' bagged him the Soviet Award for the best essay, at international level in 1988. He has visited many foreign countries including Soviet Union and Poland. P.V. Thampi had penned 30 novels. His major works include ‘Karmabandhanam', ‘Athmavrithantham', ‘Bhraanthi', ‘Agnirathi', ‘Avatharam', ‘Aksharapooja, ‘Anandabhairavi', ‘Kasthuri', ‘Krishnapparunthu', ‘Pallivetta', ‘Ticket please' and ‘Sapthaham'. A few of them were made into films. He was a renowned advocate too. He worked in the capacity of the Kerala Bar Council Chairman. Renowned lyricist and film- maker Sreekumaran Thampi is one of his brothers. P.V. Thampy passed away at the age of 71, following a cardiac arrest. He spent his last days at Haripad.</p>

He served as Dean - M G University and Kerala University, Chairman - Kerala Kalamandalam (1993-96), President - Margi Trivandrum and has produced several PhD holders under his guidance.Dr.V.S Sharma is a recipient of the Senior Fellowship from the Govt. of India.He has received several accolades, the most recent being Sahitya Kalanidhi title from Kerala Hindi Prachara Sabha (2007). His workshops on Natyasastra and Mohiniyattom and papers on the contribution of the Travancore Royal Family to Art and Literature are worth mentioning.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Freedom fighter, social reformer, Congress leader, ex-MLA, advocate, chief- editor, environmentalist, litterateur... A.P. Udhayabhanu's versatility knew no bounds. He was born at Muttom near Haripad, on October 1, 1915. He had his B.A. and B.L. degrees from Travancore University. A.P. Udayabhanu was elected to the Travancore Legislative Assembly twice, in 1944 and 1948. Also he was the President of Thiru- Kochi Pradesh Congress Committee and secretary to Travancore State Congress. A veteran social worker, A.P. Udayabhanu was a member of the Kerala Public Service Commission and also the managing committee president of Thonnaykkal Kumaranasan Memorial Trust. He worked as the chief- editor of "Prabodham", "Deenabandhu" and "Mathrubhoomi" newspapers. For about a decade from 1969 onwards, Udayabhanu held the position of Mathrubhoomi- Kozhikkode edition's Resident Editor.</p>
<p>He acquired secure position in Malayalam literature with his simple and elegant essays which have a vein of humour in them. His essays include ‘Arthavum Anarthavum', ‘Samsaarikkunna Daivam', ‘Kochu Chakkarachi', ‘Upavasantham', ‘Ormmayude Kannaadi', ‘Aanayum Alpam Telungum', ‘Onnaanaam Kochuthumpi', ‘Anaathan', ‘Premakkili', ‘Oro Thalirilum', ‘Kaliyum Kaaryavum', ‘Kaalppanam Chundaykka', ‘Ente Manoraajyangal', ‘Prakrithipooja', ‘Peppattiseminar', ‘Raamaraajyam Evide?', ‘Smaranakal Sambhavangal', ‘Udayabhanuvinte Thiranjedutha Upanyaasangal', ‘Kshethramillaatha Kshethram', ‘Daivam Thottutharilla', ‘Nireekshanangal', ‘Ente Kathayillaaymakal' and ‘Vridhavichaaram'. "Enteyum Katha Alpam" is his auto biography.</p>
<p>In 1933, A.P. Udayabhanu was awarded the Kerala Sahithya Academy Award for life time contributions and the first Swadeshabhimani Award for his contributions to the domain of journalism. He also received the Pathradhipar K. Sukumaran Memorial Award in 1995 and the C. Achyutha Menon Award. The noble soul passed away on December 15, 1999.</p>
