Thottappalli beach is situated near Thottappalli spillway which is at NH 47 road from Haripad to Allapuzha.Thottappalli spillway is Kuttanad’s drain-way out to the Arabian Sea. The Thottappalli Spillway prevents the Thottappally lake fresh water from merging with saline water from Arabian Sea. Thottappalli spillway is constructed to spill excess water coming over the Upper Kuttanad and Lower Kuttanad regions through Manimala River, Achankovil River and Pamba River.
Thottappalli Harbour is also there known for fresh fish market. The joining of lake and sea forms a view of seashells and other deposits. This attracts tourists. There is enough space to take a long walk enjoying the beauty of sea at one side and the lake at the other side. Distance from Haripad to Thottappalli beach is 12 km.
