Madhu Muttom is a famous script writer in Malayalam. His second film as a script writer “Manichithrathazhu” divided the history of popular & mainstream films in Malayalam. First film was “Ennennum Kannettante”. “Kakkem Keekkem” song in this movie is written by him.His  film “Kakkothikkavile Appooppan Thaadikal” was also a hit. Manichithrathazhu has been the first ever epic psychological thriller film ever made in Indian Film Industry. The film won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Actress Shobhana was awarded the National Film Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of the central character Ganga. A song “Varuvanillarumee vijanamam’ by him also included in this movie.

Madhu Muttom was born as the only child to Kunju Panicker, a farmer in Haripad. His father died when he was 13 years old. His mother also died a few years ago. Manichitrathazhu was remade after nearly 10 years in various languages, including Tamil (Chandramukhi), Kannada (Apthamitra), Bengali (Rajmohol), and Hindi (Bhool Bhulaiya), all being commercially successful.

He wrote dialogues for movies ‘Bharathan Effect’, ‘Harikrishnans’, ‘Manichitrathazhu’ and  ‘Kanakombathu’. Screenplays by him in cinemas include ‘Bharatan Effect’, ‘Manichitrathazhu’ and ‘Kanakombathu’.He wrote stories for ‘Ennennum kannetante’, ‘Manichitrathazhu’ and ‘Bharathan Effect’.
