V S Sharma – Distinguished Scholar, Speaker, Writer and Thinker

V S Sharma was born as the son of late P S Vasudeva Sharma. He has published over 100 research papers and 65 books on literature, archaeology, Fine Arts, spirituality and culture.

Dr.V.S Sharma translated Rabindranath Tagore’s “Gitanjali” into Malayalam.His books on the Rasa theory, Kunchan Nampyar’s Thullal, Natyasastra, Hastalakshanadeepika, Balaramabharatam, Dasarupa and the Life and Works of Maharaja Swati Tirunal are of interesting read for a student of dance. Eminent personalities like P Sheshadri Iyer, K P Narayana Pisharody and Dr. P K Narayana Pillai from whom he took his M.Litt, PhD and D.Litt.,where his gurus.

He served as Dean – M G University and Kerala University, Chairman – Kerala Kalamandalam (1993-96), President – Margi Trivandrum and has produced several PhD holders under his guidance.Dr.V.S Sharma is a recipient of the Senior Fellowship from the Govt. of India.He has received several accolades, the most recent being Sahitya Kalanidhi title from Kerala Hindi Prachara Sabha (2007). His workshops on Natyasastra and Mohiniyattom and papers on the contribution of the Travancore Royal Family to Art and Literature are worth mentioning.
